What is a Detox?
Detox, short for detoxification, is the body's natural, ongoing process of neutralising or eliminating toxins from the body. Toxins are anything that can potentially harm body tissue, including waste products that result from normal cell activity, such as ammonia, lactic acid and homocysteine, and human-made toxins that we are exposed to in our environment, food, and water. The liver, intestines, kidneys, lungs, skin, blood and lymphatic systems work together to ensure that toxins are transformed chemically to less harmful compounds and excreted from the body.

What is the Juicetou Detox?

• The Juicetou detox is a 3 or 5 day cleanse that:

• Minimises the amount of chemicals ingested (for example, by consuming natural foods that are juiced).

Why do People use the Juicetou Detox?

Who Shouldn't Try a Detox?
Anyone considering a detox should consult a qualified health professional and/or their medical doctor first. Pregnant or nursing women or children shouldn't go on a detox diet. People with certain health conditions such as liver or kidney disease should only try it under the supervision of their primary Health care provider. It is not intended for alcohol or drug detoxification.

Fatigue, indigestion, cough, muscle pain, and poor sleep can be signs of serious illness. That's why it's important to see a primary care provider for a thorough assessment to ensure that any symptoms are not caused by a medical condition that requires immediate treatment.

Side Effects
One of the most common side effects is suffering with a headache within the first or second day of starting the Juicetou detox but this does vary depending on how toxic you are, often due to caffeine or sugar withdrawal. For this reason, I often suggest gradually decreasing the amount of caffeine or sugar prior to starting a detox and increasing your water intake using the formula: weight in stones x 14 divide by 40 which will give you exactly how much water you should consume for your bodyweight. In addition, some people opt to take time off work to begin a detox or start the diet on the weekend your just going through the same side effects of what alcoholics, drug addicts and smokers go through when they go cold turkey.

Other side effects include excessive diarrhoea, which can lead to dehydration and electrolyte loss that’s why we infuse our juices with alkaline 9.5 ionised water which contain all the electrolytes and antioxidants you need to super hydrate your body. Constipation may occur if people consume excess fibre without also increasing their fluid intake. Other side effects can include tiredness, irritability, acne, weight loss, and hunger. Any worsening of symptoms or new symptoms that occur during a detox should prompt a visit to a qualified health professional.

If a detox diet is continued for a longer time, it may result in nutrient deficiencies, particularly protein (some detox diets omit animal products) and calcium thats why we only recommend it for no longer than 5 days as the human body is amazing at quickly adapting to whatever life throws at it that’s why we just have to stop thinking about becoming healthier but actually doing what makes us healthier. Choosing the right Juicetou Detox duration
There’s a 3 day detox and a 5 day detox and if you went through the quiz and circled between 2 and 4 then we definitely  recommend the 3 day detox but if you circled more than 4 then I definitely recommend the 5 day detox and remember to include the 30 day follow up plan to continue your journey of improved health, Energy and vitality remember we want this to be a lifestyle change for you not a short term quick fix as there is no such thing as quick for a lifetime of improved health but I definitely recommend it at the start of your health & fitness journey whatever that might be.
